Background
Over his 30+ year career, Michael Brooks has been a champion for market and regulatory transformation in Canada and abroad for the commercial real estate industry. His in-depth knowledge of domestic and international tax, fund and capital market issues perfectly positions him to represent both listed and unlisted real estate and effectively speak to challenges faced by investors. As the CEO of the Real Property Association of Canada (REALPAC), Michael uses these insights to lead the Associations’ strategic planning, policy formulation, government relations, and national and international relations with global associations in the USA, UK, Asia, and Australia.
In addition to his work in listed and unlisted markets, Michael advocates for sustainability in real estate. He is the Treasurer, Executive Committee and a Board member of the World Green Building Council, as well as one of three business advisors to the federal government’s Sustainable Development Advisory Council. He is a former Board member of GRESB BV, the global real estate sustainability benchmark.
