Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada (HICC) Joins R-LABS’ Industry Issue + Transformation Council: Advancing Industry Innovation in Real Estate and Housing

Toronto, October 10, 2024 – Today, R-LABS welcomes Sean Keenan to the R-LABS Industry Issue + Transformation (I+T) Council. Sean is the Director General, Economic Analysis and Results at Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada working at Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada (HICC). The I+T Council is a forum of trusted industry leaders with deep and diverse expertise, helping to solve the interconnected challenges in real estate and housing. The council includes key players such as RESCON, BILD, REALPAC, TRREB, Infrastructure Ontario, and other esteemed organizations committed to driving necessary innovation in the sector. Interest in the I+T Council continues to grow, following the launch of the 2024 Industry Innovation Agenda (IIA), which has already attracted 20 pledges from innovative companies at www.realinnovators.ca.

Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada (HICC) is responsible for supporting the development of resilient, sustainable, and inclusive communities across the country. With a focus on improving access to affordable housing, enhancing public infrastructure, and fostering economic growth through targeted investments and policy initiatives, HICC works closely with provincial, territorial, and municipal partners to ensure that federal resources and expertise meet the unique needs of communities across Canada.

Through the Industry Issue + Transformation (I+T) Council, R-LABS aligns key stakeholders, fostering collaboration and innovation to tackle critical industry challenges.

Sean brings a wealth of expertise to the council, with over 20 years of experience in economic analysis, research, data, and analytics. Since joining Infrastructure Canada in 2018, he has played a pivotal role in advancing the department’s economic insights and results reporting. His deep understanding of federal tools to effect policy change—gained through his time at the Department of Finance and his early work in revenue policy for the Government of Saskatchewan—will be invaluable as the I+T Council tackles the most pressing challenges in housing and infrastructure.
