Federation of Rental-housing Providers of Ontario (FRPO) Joins R-LABS’ Industry Issue + Transformation Council: Advancing Industry Innovation in Real Estate and Housing

R-LABS is pleased to announce our partnership with the Federation of Rental-housing Providers of Ontario (FRPO)  and welcomes Tony Irwin to the R-LABS Industry Issue + Transformation (I+T) Council. The I+T Council stands at the forefront of real estate innovation, comprised of an industry-leading group that includes the CMHCBILDREALPACTRREBInfrastructure Ontario and other esteemed organizations dedicated to delivering much-needed innovation to the real estate industry. Interest in the I+T Council is growing as last month the council launched the 2024 Industry Innovation Agenda (IIA). Since 1985, the Federation of Rental-housing Providers of Ontario (FRPO) has been the voice of Ontario’s multi-family industry and the leading advocate for strong and stable rental housing. The Federation of Rental-housing Providers of Ontario is the largest association in Ontario representing those who own, manage, build, finance, service, and supply residential rental homes.

As the Real Estate Industry Venture Builder, R-LABS is a partnership of innovative corporations and institutions, including Oxford PropertiesTeranetDorsay DevelopmentsEmpire Communities, and Co-operators, along with game-changing entrepreneurs that are delivering industry innovation through the creation of new technology-enabled companies, each solving a very specific problem in real estate and housing, that are piloted locally and can be scaled globally. Through R-LABS and the I+T Council, the partnership effectively aligns and actively engages key industry stakeholders across the real estate and housing sub-sectors to drive awareness and participation in industry innovation, addressing the critical challenges facing the region.

We welcome Tony Irwin, President & CEO of the Federation of Rental-housing Providers of Ontario (FRPO) and Interim President of the Canadian Federation of Apartment Associations (CFAA). CFAA is the national voice of the rental housing industry, with over one million rental units across Canada. Before joining FRPO, Tony was President & CEO of the Canadian Consumer Finance Association; a national trade association representing businesses that provide a range of financial products to Canadians. From 2005-2009 Tony served as Executive Director of the Justin Eves Foundation, a non-profit organization granting scholarships and bursaries to learning-disabled and disadvantaged young people to assist them to achieve a post-secondary education. Tony has also held key political roles and was Senior Advisor to an Ontario Premier and Executive Assistant to the Leader of the Official Opposition.
