Toronto, August 20, 2024 – R-LABS is thrilled to announce the addition of David Barnes to our leadership team as Managing Director, Capital & Corporate Development (MD CCD). David will report to George Carras, Founder and CEO of R-LABS, and will be based in our Toronto office.
In his new role at R-LABS, David will lead new growth initiatives for R-LABS limited partners, ventures and growth stage partner companies including capital raising, investments, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), co-creation initiatives and strategic partnerships.
David brings a wealth of experience in M&A, investment banking, and venture leadership, having developed an in-depth understanding of Canadian real estate, and has created a broad network of trusted relationships over the past 20 years.

David’s distinguished career spans over 12 years at TD Securities, where he initially worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group before transitioning to the Real Estate Group. During his tenure, he successfully completed over $15 billion in transactions across various industries, with a particular focus on capital and M&A in the real estate sector.
Following his time at TD Securities, David pursued his entrepreneurial passion by serving as President of an emerging venture that developed technology for cultivating and processing sustainable protein. In this role, he led the company’s capital raising, sales and marketing, distribution, operations, and scaling. David holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) with a double major in Finance and Marketing from the Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba.
